Cassidy Announces Winners of Congressional Art Contest
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced that Taylor Garig of Zachary, Louisiana has won his 2012 Congressional Art Contest. Taylor is a senior at Zachary High School and her piece is entitled “Michael the Archangel.”
“I want to congratulate Taylor for her achievement and commend everyone who participated,” said Congressman Cassidy. “This contest promotes the arts and helps develop students’ artistic abilities. I am proud to sponsor it.”
Taylorwill have her artwork hung in the United States Capitol Complex for one year. She will also be honored in June at a Washington reception with other Congressional Art Contest winners.
Over 150 submissions were made for Congressman Cassidy’s contest. The second-place winner is Morgan Dupre, another senior at Zachary High School. The third-place and honorable mention winners are Margaret Kissner and Robert Austin, both juniors at Woodlawn High School. Local artists Gail Lloyd of Central and Mark Nikoff of Baton Rouge helped judge the artwork.
